About Me
I believe that creating art nurtures our connection to ourselves, each other, and life.
In a world that is both heartbreaking and breathtaking, my work is a love letter to life itself.
I’m Life Escobar (they/them), an artist and storyteller living on the occupied land of the Powhatan people. I create as an act of healing and as a way to converse with the mystery. Art is how I listen, how I speak, how I make sense of being alive.
My favorite mediums these days are painting, linocut printing, 35mm photography, collage, dance and video.
Through these forms, I explore the sacred in the everyday, the wisdom held within our wounds, and the movements for justice that summon us into deeper connection and collective transformation. My creativity is a way of honoring and tending to the interconnectedness of all things.
I love helping people share stories that honor their healing and support collective liberation. I most often do that through storytelling workshops and video creation. If you’d like to connect or collaborate, you can reach me at lifeescobar[at]gmail.com.

The impulse to create is a divine longing.
Your Story Can Change the World
In 2013, I gave a TEDxNYU talk that shared my foundational beliefs about storytelling- how it shapes our understanding of ourselves and the world- and why the world needs the stories we have to share.
I talk about being one of ten kids, my experiences in Palestine and how storytelling can help us interrupt dominant narratives that uphold oppression.
